Betfair terms and conditions govern the relationship between the operator and each account holder. This page summarises common provisions in plain English. It does not replace the official terms shown at registration or within the platform. Users should review the current version before depositing or placing a bet.
Acceptance of Terms
By registering, accessing an account, depositing, or placing a wager, a user may be treated as accepting the applicable terms, privacy notice, bonus rules, market rules, and responsible-gambling policies. The operator may update these documents when laws, products, or operational requirements change. Continued use after notice may constitute acceptance where permitted by law.
Eligibility and Account Registration
Users must meet the legal gambling age in their jurisdiction and must not register from a prohibited location. Each person should hold only the number of accounts allowed by the operator. Registration details must be accurate, current, and personal to the user. Accounts should not be sold, transferred, shared, or operated on behalf of another person. The operator may request identity, address, payment ownership, and source-of-funds evidence before or after betting begins.
Deposits and Withdrawals
Deposits must usually come from a payment method held in the account holder's name. The operator may apply minimums, maximums, processing times, verification checks, and payment-method restrictions. Withdrawals can be delayed when bets remain unsettled, security reviews are active, documents are incomplete, or legal checks are required. Users remain responsible for any bank, card, wallet, currency-conversion, or intermediary charges imposed outside the platform.
Betting and Market Rules
A wager is normally accepted only after confirmation appears in the account record. Odds can change before acceptance. Markets may be suspended, voided, corrected, or settled under sport-specific and exchange-specific rules. Obvious pricing errors, technical faults, late bets, duplicate transactions, or events affected by integrity concerns may be handled under the published rules. Exchange users should understand back, lay, liability, commission, liquidity, and unmatched-bet mechanics.
Bonus Policy
Promotions may have separate eligibility, minimum odds, qualifying-bet, expiry, wagering, payment-method, and geographic conditions. A bonus can be cancelled where a user abuses a promotion, creates duplicate accounts, coordinates bets, or breaches the offer rules. Bonus funds and promotional returns may be restricted until all conditions are met. The official offer page controls where promotional wording conflicts with a summary.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited conduct may include fraud, collusion, payment abuse, money laundering, use of stolen funds, false identity information, unauthorised automation, manipulation of markets, exploiting technical errors, evading self-exclusion, or accessing the service from a restricted territory. The operator may suspend accounts, void transactions, close accounts, report activity, or withhold funds where required by law or permitted by the terms.
Liability, Suspension, and Disputes
Services may be interrupted by maintenance, network failures, event-feed errors, payment-provider outages, or circumstances outside reasonable control. Liability may be limited where law permits, but mandatory consumer rights remain. Users should raise complaints promptly and provide relevant dates, market references, payment records, and screenshots. Unresolved matters may be referred to the regulator, alternative dispute-resolution body, or court named in the official terms.
